good morning ( from localhost)
Morning!
Hi!
so what is a shout? a different ‘kind’ of event?
Yeah, it’s a different kind of event with an intention of being used in this kind of global shout-box like chat room, where people can just post stuff and everyone will see everything their network posted.
I think about it primarily as an an exercise for the Rostra’s internals and a fun toy.
Worst case it can always just get scrapped.
I deployed new DFS even syncing. It gives much better results. Make sure to update.
Hi there
Your “wave” shows 19 mins old
👋
In any such chat, a reply to specific comment is first demand , fyi …
But it’s low priority.. or no priority
Yo
I don’t understand, and this is not a chat! :D
This is a shoutbox.
Hmm
Gotcha. I’m unfamiliar with shoutbox heh.
“In any such chat, a reply to specific comment is first demand , fyi …” I don’t understand what do you mean here.
TEST CRAB REPORTS!
The thing about Rostra is that it’s a distributed, eventually consistent system. There is no such a thing as a centralized “room” that could track order of messages, etc. So it’s hard to actually have a proper chat here.
True. .. it’s very personalized. I’m playing with idea of an instance having its own id, so some centralisation and moderation can be built on it.
I’m right now attracted to idea or use case of running my instance, and giving my friend a code, then letting them use my instance with mapped names.
I would definitely recommend setting up your own instance. Though I’m not sure what do you mean by “mapped names”. What problem/function are you trying to solve?
Good evening everyone!
