Linux Developers Look To Drop RTGROUPSCHED As It’s “Broken Beyond Repair”
A proposed kernel patch would remove CONFIGRTGROUP_SCHED, the cgroup-v1 real-time group scheduler, rather than attempt to repair it for cgroup v2.
The proposal describes unusable runtime assignment and throttling behavior; major distributions reportedly already disable the option. Removal is not yet settled: reviewers raised remaining users and whether a deprecation period is needed.
