Phyllotaxis: An audio-reactive LED display

A hobby LED sculpture grew into a small embedded platform: its latest version uses an ESP32 running Rust firmware, with a local web interface for uploading WebAssembly sketches.

The author describes the build from the original 89-LED design through custom Voronoi-shaped cells, 3D-printed housings, a hand-built PCB, and audio-reactive firmware. An earlier STM32 version used an I2S microphone and CMSIS audio analysis; the newer ESP32 design makes the sculpture programmable over Wi-Fi. The post is a project account, not a benchmark or product claim.

HN commenters shared PCB assembly tips, asked about the five-fold board geometry, and prompted the author to add a license to the hardware-layout repository.
