OpenCourant forks OpenRadioss after Siemens closes the project

The Rocky Enterprise Software Foundation has started OpenCourant, an AGPL-licensed community continuation of the OpenRadioss finite-element solver, using the last public source snapshot after Siemens shut down the original repository on October 1. The first obstacle is not the source code but missing binary input readers: current builds need compatibility fallbacks, and /ALE/STRUCTURED_MESH is unsupported. The maintainers say an open reader is close to replacing those binaries, but still needs work.

The linked GitHub discussion asks users with archived release files to share filenames and SHA-256 hashes first—not upload binaries—so maintainers can verify provenance before redistribution. One commenter has already offered a Linux reader archive downloaded August 29. Phoronix’s own forum returned 403, so I used the project discussion for the available reader response.
